Portland's Great Snowpocalypse of 2017

To say Portland is ill-prepared for snow is an understatement. There is a collective panic, the city shuts down and everyone works from home in their pajamas (if they're lucky). This year, it was especially interesting. Usually when the news predicts 1-3 inches, there is maybe .5", and it melts a day later. No big deal. But, I don't remember having seen this much snow in years. By the time I woke up in the morning there was close to a foot.

I had to borrow a shovel to clear the sidewalk. The hot water pipes in our house froze because I forgot to leave the taps dripping. Pretty much failing at winter over here. Amateur, I tell you! I know you Midwesterners are laughing at me right now.

This is nothing compared to other parts of the country, but it is uncommon for us. For a few days, our little city looked like a completely different place, and I for one, enjoyed the hell out of it. The snow is melting as I type this, so I post these photos here in memorandum. Also, because I don't want to bombard my instagram followers with any more snow photos (sorry).

R.I.P. great snowstorm of 2017. I'll miss you.
